Majungasaurus crenatissimus

My reconstruction of Majungasaurus crenatissimus. Majungasaurus used to live on Madagascar and was a unique animal because of its exceptionally large tail and cannibalistic behaviour. I wasn't able to consistently work on this project, so it's only now that I realize how much fun I had during this visualization. (I never thought posting something on ArtStation could actually be fun!) The project started of as a study of Majungasuaurus' skull and then I used that study as the base of a test of my "modular theropod musculature plan": the skeletal, musculature and fat studies of my Majungasaurus only took a total of two days to complete - this process used to take a minimum of two weeks! My modular theropod muscular plan worked!

Since this project was about testing out my new modular workflow rather then perfectly recreating an extinct animal, I took some liberties with the visualization of the environment. I used pictures from Pinterest to visualize studies of my dinosaur in a realistic environment.

Furthermore I used Megascans for the environment, the turtle shell you can find below and last but not least I would like to thank WitmerLab for their pictures of Majungasaurus' skull:

Studies of Majungasaurus' skull. I was able to manually reconstruct this fairly confidently thanks to the images shared in the description.

This is by no means my most accurate reconstruction, but if I set the time against the result, I think I've come a long way in working more and more efficiently.

I don't think anyone can easily spot any large mistakes, so if you think how quickly I was able to create this musculature study, I think it's one of the best ones I did.
